I walked the road
I walked the road, taking in the sights,
And memories and sorrows.
I walked the road taking in the sights,
And sometimes people walked with me.
The journey then seemed a bit shorter,
And fatigue seemed miles away.
I walked the road with strangers that became friends
Until the road forked,
Until their destination arrived,
Until the parting dawned.
I walk the road now, always looking out for them
Sometimes behind me,
Sometimes along the way.
I walk the road now,
Alone and occupied with past,
Ignoring the present.
