Medusa

There once was a woman, fair and innocent, Cursed for something she suffered; a monster she became. Though she harmed none, yet killed to sate an ego. Fearful now, I call her to aid: Grant me this wish, lend me your powers, So safe I may be.

My sorrow felt, my prayers thus answered, The fearsome Gorgon allies with me as a sister, My protector, my hero, Shielding me from condescending eyes That see a seductress in my every move.

With strength we stand, yet fear still falters us, For time and time again we are sacrificed To appease a fragile ego. Yet still, we want to live, Not as beauty, nor as seductress, Or as a witch, sometimes with a B, But as a human, And God forbid, one equal to man in value.
